COUNTRY ARTIST TRENT SUMMAR
PLAYS NASHVILE BEHIND 2ND ALBUM,
THE CHART-CLIMBING HORSESHOES & HAND GRENADES
AUSTIN, Texas — Songwriter, recording artist and rowdy alt-country-rocker Trent Summar and his band, The New Row Mob, play Nashville behind the release of his second album, HORSESHOES & HAND GRENADES (Palo Duro Records, October 10).
The Nashville show is scheduled for 10 p.m. Saturday, December 16, at The Wildhorse Saloon, 120 Second Ave. N. in Nashville. Cover is $8; information: 615.902.8200.
The album debuted at #36 on the national R&R/Americana chart, where it’s quickly climbed to #32. It’s packed with clever, down-home farm rock gems like the darkish, witty title track along with “Really Never Loved Her Anyway,” an honest look at heartbreak, and “Guys Like Me,” to which Raul Malo, former lead singer of The Mavericks, contributed harmony vocals (and which Gary Allan recorded on his 2003 platinum release).
Also on the album — and on Summar and the band’s set list — are “She Knows What To Do with a Saturday Night” (co-written with Gary Nicholson and recorded by Billy Currington on his platinum sophomore album) and “Love You” (co-written with Jay Knowles), the cover of which by country artist Jack Ingram is at the top of The Texas Music Chart and #16 this week on Billboard’s “Hot Country Songs” chart.
Members of The New Row Mob Band back Summar in the studio and on the road, putting the match to the songwriter’s dynamite showmanship: smash-mouth player Ken McMahan and former Georgia Satellites hero Dan Baird on acoustic and electric guitars; Dave Kennedy, formally of Walk the West and the lone holdover from Summar’s critically acclaimed 2000 self-titled debut album, on drums; and Michael “Supe” Granda, a founding member of the Ozark Mountain Daredevils, providing bass and background vocals.
Interview times are available as well as press kits and review CDs.
