REDNECK ROCKER TRENT SUMMAR SET TO RELEASE PALO DURO DEBUT,
HORSESHOES & HAND GRENADES

Songwriter Records New Crop of Farm Rock Classics As Well As His Hits by Others

AUSTIN, Texas — Songwriter and recording artist Trent Summar, proclaimed the “King of Redneck Rock” by Robert K. Oermann of Music Row, releases his second album and first on Palo Duro Records, HORSESHOES & HAND GRENADES, on October 10.

The record is a collection of songs written or co-written by Summar that grab attention just like the trademark red pants he wears for his high-energy live shows (and now on the cover of the CD): rowdy and real, combining country and rock with clear and catchy down-home lyrics for a sound that is left enough of both mainstream country and Americana to defy labeling.

Backed by his band, The New Row Mob, Summar delivers humor and sarcasm and love amid full, guitar- and beat-driven arrangements that rock the house and roll back the rugs. Brooks & Dunn steel guitarist Gary Morse can be heard throughout the disc.

The first single to be released to country and Americana radio stations, the title track, is already creating a buzz. Said Oermann: “The rampaging title tune to Trent’s CD is a take-off on that old adage that close only counts in horseshoes. He drawls it with a grin in his voice, and the band cooks it with the gas blazing hot. This rocks my world.”

The track “Love You” (co-written with Jay Knowles) turns that emotion into a bitter four-letter word but in a funny way; right now the version of the song recorded by Jack Ingram is vaulting high on the charts. “Really Never Loved Her Anyway” is an honest look at heartbreak that stays in the witty zone. Summar covers the George Jones classic “He Stopped Loving Her Today” the way a rural Tennessean farm rocker would.

Also on HORSESHOES & HAND GRENADES is Summar’s take on his own “Guys Like Me,” to which The Mavericks’ Raul Malo contributed harmony vocals and which Gary Allan had recorded on his 2003 platinum release. So is “She Knows What To Do with a Saturday Night,” co-written with songwriter, guitar player and Grammy Award-winning producer Gary Nicholson and recorded by Billy Currington on his platinum sophomore album.

Summar is currently on tour with his band to support the October 10 release. For more information, visit www.trentsummarmusic.com and www.palodurorecords.com.
