SUSAN GIBSON PLAYS IN SALT LAKE CITY BEHIND NEW ALBUM OUTER SPACE

(Austin, Texas) -- Susan Gibson, the Texas songstress who penned the Dixie Chicks hit "Wide Open Spaces," brings cuts from her latest release, OUTER SPACE, to a solo gig at Salt Lake City's Urban Lounge, 500 East 241 South. Gibson will take the stage at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12, as the opener for South Austin Jug Band. $7 tickets are available at the door or at 801.483.1977.

In recent months, Gibson has been touring Texas and beyond with her band, Moving Parts, to mark the release of OUTER SPACE, a collection of 13 roots-rock tunes that includes "Happiest When I'm Moving" (co-written with Jim Lauderdale), a song that reflects the songwriter's upbeat traveling spirit, and her live version of "Wide Open Spaces." In the past two weeks, the album has jumped from #44 to #36 on the Americana chart.

Easily the edgiest work in the Gibson catalog, OUTER SPACE, co-produced with Jack Saunders and featuring some of Texas' finest musical artists, includes the kind of personal, soul-searching songs she is known for and some adventurous departures both musically and lyrically.

Gibson's live performances -- done in her typically confident and soulful way -- draw a steady stream of fans, including some who travel miles to see show after show. One reviewer calls Gibson "a potent personality and her music's massive."
