RUBY DEE AND THE SNAKEHANDLERS WIN
BEST BAND HONORS FOR SECOND YEAR
Ruby Dee and The Snakehandlers, the high-energy alt-country combo born
in the Pacific Northwest, has won Best Band honors for a second year in
a row in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer's NWsource People's Picks 2006:
this year, Favorite Signed Band.
Announcing the wins, NWsource said: "When this rock-solid Americana
outfit won 'Favorite local band or artist? last year, we wrote: 'Ruby
Dee & The Snakehandlers make a sweet honky-tonk country racket that?s
perfect for long road trips, lazy afternoons and jumpin? and jivin' at
the corner bar.' Today, we believe may have underestimated the band a
bit. Judging from the fervent anticipation that the band?s Conrad
Uno-produced debut album NORTH OF BAKERSFIELD is generating, Ruby Dee
and The Snakehandlers may soon leap from the corner bar to the national
stage."
The band's first full-length CD was released July 25 by Dionysus
Records. It's currently finishing up the Washington leg of its CD
release tour ? a tour that continues through California, the Southwest
and Texas.
Interview times are available as well as press kits and review CDs.
