SET TO RELEASE DEBUT CD

Socia and Band Spent January Home and Away

AUSTIN, Texas ö Roots-rock singer-songwriter-guitarist Robert Socia continues his regular Sunday gig in Austin while playing dates around the state ahead of the February 21 release of his self-titled first album.

Throughout February, Socia and his band play their kind of roots rock ö one full of guitar and fiddle that evokes old-time Texas with instrumental harmonies and solos ö on Sundays at Austinâs Momoâs, 618 W. Sixth St., after fiddler Warren Hood, with a special CD release show set for February 24.

At the same time, Socia and the band have been working on the road, opening for the likes of South Austin Jug Band and Mickey & the Motorcars as well as Two Tons of Steel. Their tour continues through the spring.

The touring band features a unique blend of musical artists, with Socia handling lead vocals and rhythm, slide and lead guitars. Brian Beken picks the mandolin, Andrew Davis thumps the cello and award-winning Andy Tindall rubs the fiddle. Eric Smith adds bass, Bruce James a piano and Jimmy Anderson the drums.

Songs by Socia ö each with a musical hook that showcases well-honed instrumental skills ö tell good stories of lifeâs dreams and lessons with smart and stirring lyrics. ãThe Armadillo Songä and ãBlack Texas Goldä showcase Sociaâs Lone Star roots; ãAmerican Bluesä and ã10 Long Milesä are two other cuts on the debut CD.
