Austin, TX — Roots-rock quintet Reckless Kelly will play its Americana blend of country, rock and folk for football fans at the “Taste of Texas” TexFest on Friday, December 28, before the University of Houston’s appearance in the NCAA’s Texas Bowl 2007.
Reckless Kelly plays 6-6:45 p.m. Friday, December 28, in the private Bud Light Red Dirt Lunge during the pre-game celebration of food, live music and team spirit at Houston’s Reliant Stadium. Special ticket required, available at 1-866-GO-TEXANS. The game featuring the 8-4 Houston Cougars starts at 7. Information: www.texasbowl.org.
The band — lead singer-songwriter-guitarist Willy Braun, brother Cody Braun on fiddle, mandolin, harmonica and vocals, lead guitarist David Abeyta, bassist Jimmy McFeeley and drummer Jay Nazz — goes into the studio in late January to begin recording its next album. It plays at La Zona Rosa in Austin on New Year’s Eve and then makes its way to Steamboat Springs, Colo., for MusicFest.
