RECKLESS KELLY HEADS TO SOUTHEAST
DURING TOUR BEHIND LIVE RECORD

Roots-Rock Band Continues to Swing Across the Country
Behind ‘Reckless Kelly Was Here’

Austin, TX — Reckless Kelly brings it to the Southeast for a special sampling of its kick-ass live performances as demonstrated on its RECKLESS KELLY WAS HERE (Sugar Hill Records, August 2006), the critically acclaimed live recording-plus video CD/DVD.

Fan faves from the live recording include Richard Thompson’s “1952 Vincent Black Lightning” and RK originals “Break My Heart Tonight” and “Baby’s Gone Blues,” the song about which USA Today’s Ken Barnes blogged: “Reckless Kelly, ‘Baby’s Gone Blues’ … explores the rockier edges of alt-country, with an immediately seductive Southern-rock-flavored cut …”

Of the album, AllMusic.com says: “The mix is simply incredible … RECKLESS KELLY WAS HERE is a portrait of a band at their raw and woolly best, showcasing great songs… This is the finest offering from an utterly soulful and raucous country-rock band. They have songs, chops, and plenty of piss and vinegar to make you stomp around the crib shaking your fist in the air and attempting to do a drunken two-step.”

The Austin Chronicle (which has named the group Best Roots Rock Band six times) wrote: “Reckless Kelly inflames cowboy boots and Texas dance halls with its fired-up versatility, and this ambitious double live album and DVD is testament to just that.”

Reckless Kelly’s reputation has kept the band out touring all year, including playing 16 sold-out or SRO shows with rockers Big Head Todd in February and March. And for four shows in four days in May, the dynamite roots rockers joined veteran rocker of the road Joe Ely — the young artists sharing the stage with one of their heroes — for a “Riders in the Rain” Tour, named for the Randy Newman-penned ballad the pair recorded on last year’s SAIL AWAY: THE SONGS OF RANDY NEWMAN on Sugar Hill Records. More shows featuring Reckless Kelly and Joe Ely are slated for October.

With lead singer, songwriter and guitarist Willy Braun and brother Cody Braun, who swaps between fiddle, mandolin, harmonica and vocals, Reckless Kelly is rounded out by lead guitarist David Abeyta, bassist Jimmy McFeeley and drummer Jay Nazz.

During breaks from almost constant touring, with shows planned from South Carolina to Washington (including the three-day Braun Family Reunion in Challis, Idaho, August 9-11) through the summer, the band has been in the studio writing and recording for its next project, slated for release in 2008.
