RECKLESS KELLY TO FILM & RECORD
LA ZONA ROSA SHOW
FOR SPECIAL LIVE ALBUM & DVD

“...one of the most able torch carriers in recent years for cranking, passionate twang-rock.” — The Tennessean

Austin, Texas — Reckless Kelly, the alt-country-roots rock band whose reputation for kick-ass live performances is selling out venues, will record one of those shows at the end of the month as part of a live album/DVD. The recording that will capture the band's raw energy and high musicianship as it wrecks the audience with its unique blend of vocals and country rock is slated for release August 2006 on Sugar Hill Records.

Doors open at 8 p.m. Friday, March 31. (No opening act.) Reckless Kelly rocks La Zona Rosa at 10 p.m. Tickets are $7 at the door day of show. Information: 512.263.4146.

With its five albums (including its last record, WICKED TWISTED ROAD), Reckless Kelly has shown itself to be a band with two sides. One is bound in tradition: harmony vocals only brothers could pull off, folksy roots rock storytelling, country fiddle and mandolin, ballads but upbeat. The other side is forward-facing and rule-breaking, label-defying alt-country with hot guitar. The band — brothers Willy (lead vocals and guitar) and Cody Braun (harmony, mandolin, fiddle), drummer extraordinaire Jay Nazz, guitarist David Abeyta and bassist Jimmy McFeeley — aim to please as many music lovers as it can, but in its own way.

The live album/DVD will be directed by the award-winning Peter Zavadil, who's helmed a bunch of killer country music videos, including Dierks Bentley's “What Was I Thinking,” and won the CMT Flameworthy, and promises some hard-ass rock 'n' roll and some serious country passion. It will be engineered and mixed in 5.1 surround sound by Grammy Award-winning Elliot Scheiner, who is considered one of the world's top mixers and leader in 5.1 surround sound recording.

The Reckless Kelly dynamo continues to sell out venues — from Antone's in Austin to College Station's Texas Hall of Fame — and play to SRO crowds like it did recently at Billy Bob's Texas in Fort Worth.

“Metal bands think they know how to kick butt. Poseurs. Rappers think they're baaaaad. Wimps. You want to hear what real musical danger sounds like? Listen to Reckless Kelly. These illegitimate spiritual spawn of a drunken midnight mating between Doc Boggs and Hank Williams understand the true parameters of bacchanalian depravity.”  — Vintage Guitar Magazine
