ROOTS ROCKERS RECKLESS KELLY
TO PREVIEW UPCOMING ALBUM
IN SHOWS DURING SXSW MUSIC 2008

Special Appearances Include BMI’s Austin Music Hall Showcase

Austin, TX — Reckless Kelly will be all over South By Southwest 2008 with performances of its hard-line, broad-shouldered Americana roots rock, special promotions and parties, and multi-media interviews including in Studio SX at the Conference trade show.

Reckless Kelly plays at 11:30 p.m. Friday, March 14, during the BMI Showcase at Austin Music Hall, 208 Nueces St., with cuts from its new studio album, BULLETPROOF (slated for June), that give listeners more of the band’s rock side. Band member Cody Braun described recent shows this way: “It’s pretty fun, high-energy, kind of rock ’n’ roll with a fiddle. … There [aren’t] any teddy bears or roses onstage.”

Reckless Kelly — lead singer-songwriter-guitarist Willy Braun, brother Cody on fiddle, mandolin, harmonica and vocals, lead guitarist David Abeyta, bassist Jimmy McFeeley and drummer Jay Nazz — is also part of the Yep Roc Day Party, set for Friday, March 14, at Dirty Dog Bar, 505 E. Sixth St., and will play 6-6:30 p.m.

The day before, at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, March 13, the wildly funny, ad-lib-mad members of Reckless Kelly are scheduled to do an interview in the laid-back Studio SX, at the trade show in the Austin Convention Center, where the brains of Festival artists and speakers and music, movie and interactive industry leaders are picked and registrants can watch. Most interviews will be posted at www.sxsw.com.

The band will log its time at SXSW with a video blog — taping its own performances, interactions with fans, downtime and more — to be posted at CMT.com, which wants to give Reckless Kelly and country/alt-country/bluegrass music lovers a virtual backstage pass during the Festival.

Also during SXSW and its regional promotion with Dr Pepper and Wendy’s restaurants, Reckless Kelly and other showcasing artists will appear on their own drink cups with the SXSW logo and a coded tear-off coupon for prizes and MP3 “song of the day” downloads from a special Web site that will also include links to artists’ Web or MySpace pages.

Spring will find Reckless Kelly continuing its national touring as it puts the finishing touches on the upcoming release, its seventh album, with dates in the East and Midwest, including shows in Nashville, Atlanta and Chicago.
