AUSSIE ARTIST KARA GRAINGER BACK IN AUSTIN

After SXSW Appearance, Starbucks Broadcasting Her New Cuts

AUSTIN, Texas — Singer-guitarist Kara Grainger, who wowed crowds during her South By Southwest showcases and performances around town in March, returns for five shows at the end of May and in June to answer demand for more of her distinctly earthy urban sound.

Grainger’s sets will feature blues-roots-pop songs from her album GRAND AND GREEN RIVER — bold and sassy, always soulful, and spiced with her masterful lead guitar work on acoustic, electric and slide — recorded through Sydney-based independent label Craving Records, which is seeking U.S. licensing for the album.

A great show at Antone’s during SXSW resulted in two tracks from GRAND AND GREEN RIVER (“I Dreamed I Was the Devil,” “Sky is Falling”) now airing in a highlighted in-store broadcast called “Contemporary Grind” in 3,000 Starbucks coffee shops across the United States. Others tunes were chosen for broadcast in the approximately 96 Starbucks across Australia, where Grainger was born and in whose jazz and blues clubs she got her start playing the guitar.

Grainger has just wrapped a mini-tour of Australia opening for Blue Note recording artist Amos Lee, with whom she shares a duet, “On My Way,” on the album. She’ll play a special showcase with fellow Craving recording artist Jackie Bristow in LA on June 11 and is part of the ACL Music Festival lineup, with an appearance slated for the BMI stage.
