GRASSY KNOLL BOYS TAKE TRADITIONAL SOUND, ORIGINAL SONGS TO OKLAHOMA CITY

(Austin, Texas) -- The Grassy Knoll Boys, sharp pickers of the traditional bluegrass sound who have blasted open the genre with their own songs and other tunes by contemporary artists, deliver their music to Oklahomans early in February.

The Grassy Knoll Boys plays at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday February 4, at Oklahoma City's The Blue Door, 2805 N. McKinley Drive. Cover is $15; information: 405.524.0738.

The Boys are a virtuoso five-piece band that wants to be known for expanding bluegrass beyond tradition, applying instrumental chops and tight harmonies to hillbilly and gospel originals and its own originals.

They are Will Walden on vocals and acoustic guitar, David Hamburger on vocals and Dobro, Alex Rueb on vocals and mandolin, Brent Warnock on banjo, and Vance Hazen on bass.

In addition to their regional tour, to develop and perfect material for their next release (members recently laid down tracks with noted acoustic music producer Bil VornDick in Nashville), The Grassy Knoll Boys will return to play every Tuesday through February at South Austinās famous Jovita's.

TheyĪre scheduled to play a showcase February 11 during the 18th annual International Folk Alliance Conference, being held this year in Austin, and then in early March will set off on a tour through the Northeast.

The Grassy Knoll Boys upcoming gigs include:

Tuesday, January 24, Jovita's, Austin
Friday, January 27, The Old Moulton Bank, Moulton, Texas
