THE GINN SISTERS RELEASE 2ND ALBUM, BLOOD ORANGES
Harmonies are Sweet & Strong, Just Like the Songs, Spirit Behind Them
Austin, Texas — The harmony-driven, roots-country band known as The Ginn Sisters, led by the super-talented Tiffani and Brit Ginn, will release its second album, the bold and heartfelt BLOOD ORANGES (Sweetbird Records), on June 27.
The sisters from Schulenburg, southeast of Austin, have unleashed their powerful vocals and instrumental gifts on 13 smart songs written by Tiffani, who sings the leads and plays guitar. She is accompanied by Brit’s harmonies and her flute and melodica as well as Bradley Kopp on electric and acoustic guitars, Larry Paul Passalacqua on lead acoustic guitar, Timmy Campbell on drums and percussion, and Lindsey Greene on bass, with additional harmony vocals by their mother, Kari Ginn.
To mark the release of BLOOD ORANGES, The Ginn Sisters will play a hometown album release party at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 1, in the Cozy Theatre at The Von Minden Hotel, 607 Lyons in Schulenburg, Texas. Cover is complimentary; information at 979.743.3714. Following the show, the band will host a free CD release party at 8 p.m. at Freyburg Hall, located at the intersection of F.M. 956 and F.M. 2238, 12 miles southwest of LaGrange.
The band will also play a special pre-release show June 17 at The Little Bear in Evergreen, Colo.
Four of the songs on the CD — “Down the Drain,” “Broken Spirit,” “2 Cool 2 Cry” and “Let it Burn” — represent the world of love, loss and second chances that Tiffani writes about, albeit in an upbeat, vocally joyous way. It’s difficult to remain blue within earshot of The Ginn Sisters’ wide-open, old-time vocals (with bending notes) and the spunky beat of bass guitar and drum.
The band continues touring nationally with upcoming dates including:
Saturday, June 17, The Little Bear, Evergreen, Colo.
Wednesday, June 21, Bieroc Cafe & Sehnert’s Bakery, McCook, Neb.
Wednesday, June 28, The Saxon Pub, Austin
Saturday, July 1, Cozy Theatre, The Von Minden Hotel, Schulenburg
Wednesday, July 5, The Cactus Café, Austin
Saturday, July 22, Austin Americana Jamboree Tour, KC Hall, Effingham, Ill.
Saturday, July 28, The Corner Pub, Conroe
Saturday, July 29, The Mucky Duck, Houston
