THE DERAILERS
TO PLAY AMERICANA MUSIC CONFERENCE
IN NASHVILLE SEPTEMBER 22
Both Album & Single All Over the Charts
AUSTIN, Texas — Texas-based roadhouse-country-rock band The Derailers — they of the sharp-cut suits, cowboy boots and hats who pack venues and dance floors — plays its showcase during the annual Americana Music Conference in Nashville on Friday night, September 22.
The band’s showcase is set for 11:30 p.m. at The Cannery Ballroom, 1 Cannery Row in Nashville. For information and tickets, 615.251.3020; www.americanamusic.org. Also part of that official conference showcase is Jim Lauderdale and Alejandro Escovedo.
Since the June release of its sixth album, SOLDIERS OF LOVE (Palo Duro Records), the band has been touring endlessly — this summer from Chattanooga to Seattle, Hollywood to Green Bay, and points in between. As a result, the album has jumped to #7 on the national Americana chart, and its “Cold Beer, Hot Women and Cool Country Music,” a honky-tonk anthem-in-the-making, is at #13 on The Texas Music Chart.
SOLDIERS OF LOVE features 13 other songs ranging from rocker to country classic to pop standard. Derailers front man and guitarist Brian Hofeldt gets solid back-up from bassist-vocalist Ed Adkins, drummer-percussionist Scott Matthews, pedal steel player and vocalist Chris Schlotzhauer, and piano pounder and organist Sweet Basil McJagger.
“ … ’60s Brit-rock and Bakersfield country, and The Derailers sound both reborn and rededicated to their original vision,” says Nashville Scene of the album. The band is “laying down some of the twangingest, most danceable honky-tonk since Buck Owens discovered The Beatles and putting the ‘show’ in show time,” concurs The Houston Press.
