BIG BLUE HEARTS PLAYS SXSW SHOWCASE
MARCH 17 AT COPA

Austin, Texas -- Big Blue Hearts, known for its romantic retro-billy sound, plays its first official South by Southwest Music and Media Conference & Festival showcase at 10 p.m. Friday, March 17, at Copa, 217 N. Congress Ave. SXSW wristband or badge required for entry.

Big Blue Hearts performs a number of other times during the Conference:
2 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, on the Terminal Stage at Austin Bergstrom International Airport;
2 p.m. Friday, March 17, No Depression party at Cactus Cafe, 2247 Guadalupe;
6 p.m. Friday, March 17, Sin City party, Maria's Taco Express, 2529 S. Lamar Blvd.; and
11 a.m. Saturday, March 18, at Cheapo Discs, 914 N. Lamar Blvd.

Songwriter David Fisher takes the lead with dreamy vocals in a velvety baritone. Adding texture and depth and dynamic musicianship are Scott Minchk on lead guitar and vocals, J.B. Burton on bass and vocals, and Greg Sobol on drums and vocals.

The band has been charming gig and radio audiences across Texas and beyond with what Robert K. Oermann of Music Row describes as its "crisp, pop approach" and "the catchy tunes to back it up.· the juiciest songs I've heard since the glory days of Crowded House. Think Chris Isaak/Roy Orbison with a little more twang."

"Lovin' You," the first release from the band's HERE COME THOSE DREAMS AGAIN (Eagle Eye Records), is getting national airplay and has charted for 36 weeks so far on The Texas Music Chart. The video of the single is being featured on Austinâs ME Television on Time Warner Cable, Great American Country music channel and CountryMusicTelevision.com.

Sharing the Copa showcase spotlight with Big Blue Hearts will be folk singer-songwriter Maggie Walters at 8 p.m.; songstress Sarah Sharp, 9 p.m.; world-music makers Charanga Cakewalk, 11 p.m.; alternative Tex-Mex spitfire Patricia Vonne, midnight; and Austin fave popster David Garza, 1 a.m.
