TWO TONS OF STEEL
PLAYS RELEASE PARTY AT GRUENE HALL
FOR LIVE DVD/CD
Band's Show Also Kicks Off Tuesday Concert Series the New Release Captures
Austin, TX — Powerful countrybilly combo Two Tons of Steel, which just wrapped a tour that wowed audiences across Europe, celebrates the release of its long-awaited live DVD-plus-CD combo when it kicks off its 11th annual summer concert series, which is the high-energy, 10-years-running music party that the new recording captures.
The inaugural show of the 11th season of Two Ton Tuesday is at 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, at Gruene Hall, 1281 Gruene Road in New Braunfels. Cover is $4; information: 830.606.1281.
TWO TON TUESDAY LIVE! (Palo Duro Records; street date: June 6) DVD/CD combo catches the hugely popular annual summertime concert series that the band hosts in the oldest dance hall in Texas. More than 12,000 fans annually see Two Tons Tuesday shows at Gruene Hall, where the band holds every attendance record the venue has.
The DVD just won a Gold Remi award at the 39th annual WorldFest Independent Film Festival in Houston. And its first video, the director's cut of “Your Kiss,” will be released at the end of the month.
The band, which known for its numerous at appearances at Grand Ole Opry Plaza Parties, is touring Texas behind the new live recording but will make a side trip to Chattanooga, Tenn., for a June 15 appearance in front of an expected 80,000 music fans at the Riverbend Festival 2006.
“Two Tons of Steel continues this confident fusion of hayseed and half-ass,” says The Dallas Observer. “One listen to its hillbilly take on 'I Wanna Be Sedated' on its fine recent effort, VEGAS, makes obvious that it really isn't all that far from two-stepping to stage-diving.”
