AUSTIN, Texas — Palo Duro Records’ Two Tons of Steel kicks off its 12th annual Two Ton Tuesday concert series at historical Gruene Hall next month, so summer must be near. Fans and music lovers are shining up their dancing shoes.

Two Tons of Steel kicks off its 12th Annual Two Ton Tuesday summer concert series at 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at Gruene Hall, 1601 Hunter Road in Gruene. Cover (as always) is $4; information: 830.606.1281, www.gruenehall.com. Shows continue every Tuesday in June and July; the series wraps after shows on August 7 and 14.

The five-piece combo and its high-energy, dance-mandatory shows that draw about 12,000 fans to Gruene Hall during each annual series are captured on its spectacular and award-winning CD-plus-DVD, TWO TON TUESDAY LIVE! FROM GRUENE HALL (Palo Duro Records, June 2006). “Not just one of the year’s best live recordings, but one of the top CDs of the year — period. … a boot-scootin’ time,” wrote John Goodspeed of the San Antonio Express-News.

The second single from TWO TON TUESDAY LIVE!, the stimulating “Your Kiss,” written by Monte Warden and Tony Raimey, was recently released to radio, prompting this from Robert K. Oermann @MusicRow: “I’m sure you won’t be surprised to learn that this neo-rockabilly outing has twangin’ guitar, a zippy rhythm track, a cool-hillbilly vocal and a totally catchy melody.”
